Prevention
The advancements in the medical field can hardly be overseen; new medication, surgical methods and therapies are developed almost daily. Consequently, numerous serious ailments are curable. On the other hand, what good do those medical advancements do us if the ailments aren't detected in due time?
It is precisely those most widespread diseases and main causes of death nowadays like, cancer and cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, etc that cause little or no symptoms in their early stages.
In this respect, you may benefit from our early detection checkups that we strongly recommend in respect to cancer and skin-cancer screening. The costs involved are, for particular groups of people, even completely covered by the medical state / government insurance plans. For more information, please see the heading "skin-cancer screening" and "cancer early detection".
The KOSMIG team is qualified and hence authorised to conduct skin-cancer screenings. As of July 2008, all patients aged 35 and over who are insured under a state/government insurance plan are completely covered for skin-cancer screenings once every two years.
The most distinct forms of skin-cancer are: cutaneous melanoma (malignant melanoma) and squamous epithelial carcinoma. The chance of a cure is good if and when discovered at an early stage.
The skin is examined from head to toe during the skin-screening process we conduct. The results are then discussed with our patients. In case of suspicion of malignant skin alterations or irregularities, a tissue sample is then taken for further thorough examination by a laboratory upon which results a diagnosis is made.
In addition, we conduct various cancer early detection checkups. Those annual checkups are free of charge for distinct age groups insured under a medical state / government insurance plan. No quarterly medical fee is incurred by patients who require a consultation with respect to the cancer early detection checkups.
For men
For men aged 45 years and over, we conduct a tangential examination of the external genital organs, the prostate and surrounding lymph nodes.
Although uncommon, testicular cancer which represents 1-2% of all cancer ailments, is the most frequent cancer form in men between 20 and 35 years old. The annual incidence of testicular cancer is estimated at 7 out of 100,000 men. Consequently, it is recommended that men examine themselves monthly as of the age of 18. Hardening, lumps, growth or reduction of testicle size and pressure are a cause to consult a doctor.
Men and women
Over and above, men and women are entitled to exploit other medical measures that serve as preventive or early detection measures for cancerous diseases.
- 35 years and over - skin examination
- 50 years and over- rectum and colon examination
